For Van Werven, we are looking for a Managing Director for its international plastic recycling division. You are a tactical entrepreneur committed to Van Werven’s mission. Within your key role as Managing Director, you will have liaison and coaching skills to connect the country directors. You oversee the various interests and, together with your team, make choices to serve the European market optimally from the various locations. These skills make you a true strategist.

Patience and drive are essential qualities you possess. You understand that success takes time, but you are determined to get results. You feel responsible for achieving goals and speak the language of the shop floor. You have the flexibility to manage the directors in the various countries while maintaining their own culture.

As Managing Director plastic recycling, you are decisive and able to handle the dynamics within a family business. You have the ability to innovate and take initiative while respecting the company’s traditions and history. Your role is critical within the organization. You will be responsible for (further) developing and implementing a strategic vision for the plastic recycling division. You take advantage of potential opportunities such as subsidies and carbon emissions trading. You will act as an international figurehead of the organization and actively network at the international level. You have a regular presence in The Hague and Brussels to lobby for better regulations around plastic recycling and you are or will become a well-known member within the various European industry associations.

FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS

• Work experience in a multinational company; experience in a family business is a plus;
• financially literate;
• Technical knowledge and understanding of the current plastic recycling market is a plus;
• Expert in drafting and translating strategic visions into short- and medium-term business plans;
• Willingness to travel and stay internationally, which will cover approximately 40% of the time.
