What will you do as a Manager of Transportation?
As Manager of Transportation, you will be responsible for leading the transportation department, consisting of planners and drivers. You will ensure efficient operations, a pleasant working environment and compliance with all legal requirements. You will alternate your time between the Apeldoorn and Amsterdam branches and make an active contribution to the further professionalization of Kisjes Transport.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leadership and team development:
- Direct, coach and motivate planners and drivers.
- Conducting appraisal and performance reviews.
- Contribute to a positive work atmosphere by listening to employees and improving their job satisfaction.
- Operational coordination:
- Oversee transportation schedules and act quickly on bottlenecks.
- Ensure consistent operational standards across both locations.
- Compliance and workplace improvement:
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, safety regulations and transportation collective bargaining agreement.
- Perform workplace inspections and identify areas for improvement.
- Process optimization and cost control:
- Improve transportation processes and implement more efficient practices.
- Monitor costs and look for opportunities for cost savings.
- External communications:
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and respond quickly to customer inquiries.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Analyze transportation performance and KPIs and recommend improvements.
Who are we looking for?
You are a process-oriented leader with strong organizational acumen and an eye for people. You have experience in logistics or transportation and know how to motivate a team to do their best.
Our ideal candidate has:
- A completed college degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration or similar field.
- Minimum of 5 years leadership experience, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry.
- Experience in improving processes and managing teams.
- Competencies and skills:
- Leadership and team management.
- Organizational and results-oriented.
- Empathic and coaching.
- Problem solving and stress resistant.
Knowledge of transportation planning is a plus, but not a hard requirement.
